Have you ever tried bread custard before? Now I used to be so terrified of bread custard. Like I mean who might need to eat milk splashed wet bread. Those used to be precisely what I had in mind. Until I attempted it. My motto is to take a try at everything once, and twice if you like it.
Bread custard is an extremely simple recipe. You just need a few ingredients to make a simple sweet bread custard, for example, milk, custard powder, sugar, banana, and cornflour (optional).
I also included a few nuts and sweet fried vermicelli (laccha shemai) to this Banana Bread custard recipe since I love nuts in my usual banana bread so serving this dish with a little crunch to each bite appeared the simple and heavenly choice, hope you realize what I mean! It’s extremely a flavorful dessert.

- Take a pot full of 1-liter milk with 4tbsp sugar and boil it. After that add 1 tbsp Cornflour cook it in low flame.
- Take 1 cup of milk and mix 2tbsp custard powder very well. Then pour it into the boiled milk and cook and constantly stirring until it thick form. Keep aside for cooling
- Dice your loaf of French bread, or thick sandwich bread (do not use heels). For both, I typically wait a few days after buying it to use because you don’t want the bread to be really soft. Cut the bread into cubes as you see on the pic. Spread in a serving dish.
- Now pour the 2/3 warm custard on the bread and spread lightly. Keep it in the refrigerator to cool and set for 30mins.
- After 30min spread your favorite fruit, layer with rest of the custard and top layer will be sweet fried crunchy vermicelli (laccha Shemai), nuts. That’s it…. Finished
